One Hundred-Word Wonders is a writing prompt that celebrates the marvel of storytelling in a concise form. Within the realm of micro-fiction, writers have mastered the art of crafting complete narratives in just a few sentences.
These bite-sized pieces should showcase the power of brevity, leaving readers in awe of the vast landscapes painted within a mere hundred words. 😏 So, how can a story be effectively told in such a limited space? Let's explore the possibilities together.
Themes for the first seven months this year come from one of the seven deadly sins, along with its antonym. Choose ONE of today’s themes for your 100-word piece.
Themes today are:
LUST, LOVE
The word prompt today is:
WISH
Write in exactly 100 words, a story, poem, or creative non-fiction in any genre, choosing ONE theme and using the prompt word exactly as is, but only once. The 100-word count does not include the title. Please use WordCounter or your writing software to ensure your piece is exactly 100 words.
The theme word does not have to be included in your piece but should reflect it in some way.

Tryst
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the beach, Deb and James found themselves alone, their hearts pounding with anticipation.
“I can’t resist you any longer,” James said, his voice husky.
Deb’s eyes sparkled as she leaned in, her lips brushing against his.
“I wish we could stay like this forever,” she said, her voice filled with longing.
Time was of no consequence.
Their lips came together in a passionate embrace, and clothes became of no consequence.
The waves crashed against the shore, echoing their desires.
Her husband watched from the shadows, holding a gun.

Great prompt. Perfect. I will pick up the temptation and run with it. Loving your twist in the tale.
If Wishes Were Horses
Friends from the classes that filled stultifying hours of each college term were exploring galleries and sipping cocktails while what was on offer on Uncle Bill’s Wyoming ranch was dust, tumbleweed and lustful glances at the lean cowpoke who broke wild colts. Asking elicited Uncle’s slow drawl, “ … if wishes were horses, beggars might ride". No harm in asking though. Hell, begging might work. Leaning on the corral he heard tinkling spurs announce the ranch-hand who’d been mulling the question. The cowboy murmured in the lovelorn college boy’s ear, pressing his hardness against him. “Careful what you wish for”.
