Greetings and a warm welcome to all my new subscribers!
It's day 734 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and day 144 of the Israel-Hamas war. Without delving into politics, I wanted to revisit two of my posts about war and bring you a new 50-word prose poem.
The first revisit is a prose poem I wrote last May. War Zone tells the story of a courageous female soldier fighting on Ukraine's battlefields.
The second is a poetry collection I titled Bombshell. The collection includes three poems exploring human conflict and longing for a war-free world.
My new 50-word prose poem speaks of the cost of war and humanity’s loss.
War Hauntings
In the war's crucible, they became like brittle leaves tossed by a relentless wind, their spirits flitting across the desolate landscape.
Blood-soaked fields bore witness to their sacrifice, as life's flame flickered and faded.
And in the end, only the ghosts of valor remained, haunting the hearts of the living.
Author’s Note
Amid ongoing conflicts worldwide, I hope these poems will encourage deep thought, understanding, and ultimately, a collective desire for a world liberated from violence.

Thank you, Dan. Sometimes, I must work hard on a piece, writing and rewriting. These just seemed to come out of nowhere. I wrote the three-poem collection over many months without changing a lot. I wrote War Hauntings earlier this month and only changed one thing before posting it today. 😉
These are 3 great pieces, Caro but that last line of War Hauntings :-
“And in the end, only the ghosts of valor remained, haunting the hearts of the living.”
Just magnificent. It’s so true but also highlights the tragedy and futility of numerous wars that have cost so many lives
Wonderfully done 👍🏼
