I love this, Gerard! What a wonderful poem of hope and light, incorporating the colors of the rainbow, itself a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Your use of the color spectrum to portray the emotional landscape of illness and recovery, through struggle and self-doubt to renewal and hope, was clever. Bravo!
Great job, Lois! “Eyes closed shut as if it made any difference," really highlights a feeling of futility and resignation. Your mention of "blind faith" and the difficulty of reaching wisdom beautifully emphasizes the ongoing struggle to find meaning or direction amid confusion and doubt. You skillfully evoke a sense of timelessness and the physical and mental sensation of being lost.
Hard to describe exactly what it is I do. Someday something called Wikipedia will call me an “astrologer”. I guess that’s close enough. A king? I wish. Wise? I’ll take that as a compliment. I’m a man of science. Ironic that I’m about to stumble upon something that has vexed scientists for centuries.
It’s been a long year, and I don’t have much to show yet. Discovery-wise.
The wife got a good deal on myrrh at the market, so it looks like that’s what I’ll be gifting people this year.
What a touching and wonderful poem, Theresa! A "golden, bright ball of light" gives a sense of divine presence and awe and the transformation into Jesus Christ sets a tone of comfort, but also an expectation. I feel your longing and devotion, as you eagerly await the Lord's return. Nicely done!
The bright light continued to fill the observable sky. Wendall looked up in wonder from his spot under the tree. “I wonder what this is all about?” he asked, feeling the warmth and joy of the moment as his flock ate quietly
“This is an immensely beautiful vision,” he murmured.
Wendall’s last thought before his eyes closed for the night was, “who knows what the future brings but it will never equal this moment, when a star shone brighter and longer than any star before it.”
HIs mind shut down unaware of the real importance of what he had witnessed.
This story is simply wonderful, Bill! Nicely done! I kept humming: While shepherds watched their flocks by night, all seated on the ground, an angel of the Lord came down, and glory shone around. Besides that, your story reminds us that moments of wonder can pass us by without full recognition, yet still leave a lasting impression.
100-word CHALLENGE prompt: Caro’s Writing Perspective
TITLE: Out From the Shadows—Pushing Through Illness to the Light
Your once bejeweled insistence on the bright
Burned red with passion's might of lovers' light
'Til orange, fading in, suppressed the hue
With yellow's caution light, despite the view
Of green--signaling me to grace your ways
Blue is what I see of you these days
To darken Sol's expression violet
Till indigo is bare, inchoate
Your violet is violently blamed
'Til all your colors coalesce in shame
And self-esteem recedes as viewed in jade
You're not yourself—so look! beyond the shade
Emerge from death's cocoon to face new dawn
And shine anew as how you're truly borne
Very thought-provoking … “of green - - signaling me to grace your ways”, beautiful. A poem of hope.
Thank you.
I like the way you work the spectrum of color into your writing, breaking out the bright white color.
Thanks, Lois.

Eyes Closed Shut
Eyes closed shut as if it made any difference.
There is nothing to see.
All details are burnt out, as if there were any to begin with,
Night comes not, nor dusk, nor dawn.
I know not locaton, nor direction of my destination.
There is no comprehension of a point of disembarkation.
Reason can not act upon the mysterious,
Logic fails in the wake of impertinent knowledge.
Instinct is useless in an atmosphere of eventual zero.
Blind faith has hitching a ride home,
And wisdom, alas, is unattainable.
Who thought it was a good idea to seek the bright light.

Caro, thank-you for your comments. They are much appreciated and helpful in finding additional meaning articulated. I so enjoy your site.

When Will Dreams Come True
I had a dream one night
A golden bright ball of light
Came to me and transformed
Into Jesus Christ who I adored
He held me close and said
I wish you could stay ahead
Of all the dangers and distress
That is coming, I confess
That must be before
My return on earth's shore
Where my reign begins
As King of those who do not sin .
Don't seek those false imitators
I am the One who rose for waiters
Yes, I am coming soon
You should awake before noon!
I am waiting my Lord ,
Come back soon to Earth 🌎
Thank you, Caro

The wonders of life are all around us but too often we don't recognize them for what they are, a special moment.
Thank you for your prompts.
Merry Christmas Caro.
