Laura - two comments. First, I love your writing style - it has a pace worthy of envy, and copying! Second, as I read this it had an almost musical rhythm to it and I couldn't help thinking of Harry Chapin's song The Cat's in the Cradle - written by his wife/poet Sandy Chapin [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etundhQa724 ] .... so I'm thinking this work of yours - this piece doesn't feel like fiction, it feels like you are writing partially if not wholly from personal experience. Love to say that it was pure fiction, but unfortunately, it was based on some real life circumstances. Of course I embellished a bit. :)
