When I was a kid growing up in Florida, Monarchs were very common. I could walk into my back yard and see a dozen or more. Nowadays, here in Upstate SC, I rarely see any, although once we started planting natives around our yard, they are showing up more frequently.
We have milkweed and other butterfly-attracting plants all around our yard. We even persuaded our neighbors to plant milkweed. We had many monarchs and other butterflies this year. It was lovely!
Absolutely love this poem! Monarchs are one of my favourite creatures that exist on our planet. I even have a tattoo. Going to Mexico to their migration site is on my list. 🙏🩵

Thank you, Grace! It’s on my list too.
Love the poem. In Canada we have Monarch butterfly relatives, even far north.
