Hello friends!
I took a mini-break this month that will continue through mid-August. I have postings scheduled through that time.
We visited Denver, Colorado (the mile-high city) and had a great time. Here are a few photos from the trip.
The rest of these are from the Denver Botanic Gardens.
At the Denver Botanic Gardens we encountered “Spirit Guides,” an exhibit inspired by the Zapotec calendar that offers a special outdoor chance to contemplate our connection with earthly and celestial beings.
Jacobo and María Ángeles, a creative duo from Mexico, have crafted sculptures depicting vibrant and intricate hybrid creatures. The sculptures act as spiritual guides, symbolizing astrological traits.
Here are more spirit guide sculptures:
Besides traveling to Denver, it was a busy month arranging a caregiver for my sister and getting my poetry anthology ready for publication.
By the way, here are the results from the poll that asked:
Which emotion best describes your feeling towards attending a high school reunion?
Excitement: 20%
Nervousness: 10%
Indifference: 20%
Curiosity: 30%
Dread: 20%
I fall somewhere between curiosity and dread.

Poetry Anthology
This is not quite ready, but hopefully in the next few months I’ll be able to announce a launch date.
In the meantime, here’s a peek at a draft of the book cover.
Novel
I’m back on track with the second draft, but it’s slow going. I still have some kinks to massage.
Short Story Collection
This is coalescing around a theme, at least in my mind. I’m hoping to complete and publish this next year.
Thanks very much for reading, subscribing, and sharing the stories, poetry, and essays in this space. If you like a story, poem, or essay, please click on the heart. Also if you are so moved, please leave a comment.
Very COOL cover!!!!! And great photos too.
Those sculptures look amazing, Caro. Really like the Coyote-Fish. Think that would look just right in my office!😁
Denver is a place I’ve never visited but looks pretty cool. We’re over in Philadelphia in 3 weeks to see Springsteen so looking forward to that 😃
The cover for the book of poems looks great. I look forward to hearing when it will be available so I can get it ordered 👍🏼
